During the course of the 20th century, we’ve been experiencing climate change through out the years, also know as global warming. Global warming is when the earth gets warmer and warmer due to the sun and the green house effect, once heat enters the atmosphere it never gets out. Now I’m going to be talking about a forest that gives earth 20% of the oxygen, the Amazon Rainforest. Lately the forest was on fire for the past months, due to the fact of the lack of information in the media. If we don’t save the forest, many bad things can happen. For example, if the forest continues to burn, it will release a large amount of carbon dioxide pollution to the atmosphere; that’s one of many consequences that can happen if we don’t do something
With all of this carbon dioxide, it will also trap heat within the atmosphere and could change the atmospheric circulation that causes the melting of large ice sheets and many more due to climate change. Not only that, but we might lose thousands of animals and new species. We can also lose millions of kilometers of fresh water and the forest. When large trees are removed, they remove trees that provide shelter, food, or nesting causing large amounts of species disappear. The rain forest was also a carbon sink, which means, it helped remove large amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
We can now see how important the Rain forest is and how it can effect all of us. Now, not that many people know about this fire that has been happening for the past months. It has to do with monopoly; monopoly is when someone is in control of something. Now, what caused the fire has to do with men, trying to get land for farming and to put cattle. Now with one person controlling every source of news, newspapers, websites etc... this means that they don’t want you to know about what’s happening in the other side of the world. I chose this topic because, I feel like it deserves something to be talked about and the way no one is doing something about it. The way we can help prevent climate change is, use public transportation, recycle paper and plastic, and save lots of water etc... it is never too late to change the world.
